From Finance to Farming to Forward-Thinking Consulting

Droleen Solutions is the latest chapter in Jan McCourt’s journey—a career that has spanned global finance, sustainable agriculture, and community market development. With deep Irish roots and decades of experience across sectors, Jan founded Droleen Solutions to help others build businesses and projects that stand the test of time.

The Journey

Jan began his career in the banking world, working across major institutions and learning the language of capital, risk, and opportunity. But a desire for something more tangible led him to Northfield Farm, where he built a respected name in sustainable farming and quality meat production.

Not one to stand still, Jan became a founding force behind the revival of Borough Market and Broadway Market in London—bringing food, people, and place together in meaningful ways.

Now, through Droleen Solutions, Jan combines the analytical lens of finance with the grounded pragmatism of farming and market-building to help others grow.

Why Droleen?

Droleen is the anglicised spelling of the Irish word,  ‘Dreoilin’ which means ‘wren’. This tiny bird has a special place in Irish culture, both mythological and historical. It also happens to have had a special place in the life of Jan’s Irish family and when growing up. The Wren, the diminutive ‘King of Birds’, carries strong associations with good fortune, prophecy, music and dance.

A Droleen is also a small sailboat, once made only in Ireland and now only found in and around the coastal area, where once Jan’s family lived.
